Financial Manager Vacancy Announcement

Faith United Methodist Church (FUMC), a congregation with 200 active members in Rockville, MD, seeks a part-time Financial Manager to perform business management and financial functions for the church, including managing the Church’s accounts and books. This includes managing an integrated financial system that addresses day-to-day operations, accurate monthly reporting, long and short-term planning, accountability, and fiscal responsibility. It also includes support for development, implementation, and management of annual budgets, and engaging with the congregation on all areas of personal stewardship.  Reports to the Pastor and works closely with the committee responsible for finance.


A college degree with relevant business/finance coursework or equivalent experience, and bookkeeping and financial experience, are required. Experience with payroll is desired.  Computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite required; experience with ACS/Realm or equivalent financial/database management system for churches is preferred. Familiarity, or willingness to learn, about the United Methodist Church; experience handling confidential information with the utmost discretion; and the willingness to be part of a team. The ideal candidate is a person of integrity who has proactive problem-solving abilities and the ability to visualize the integrated picture of financial services at FUMC, is self-motivated and self-directed, and has a positive spirit and a sense of humor. We are seeking someone with a love of church who sees their work as a ministry.


Some flexibility is needed in scheduling work hours to provide required office coverage two or three days per week and attend necessary lay ministry meetings. The position is 20-29 hours a week including one midday Sunday and one evening meeting monthly. 


Salary range: $36,000-40,000 with paid holidays and vacation; eligible for 3% pension match after one year of service.   We seek someone to fit into our positive, flexible, supportive working environment with experienced, upbeat colleagues.
