FAITH PRESCHOOL
At Faith Church, we consider it a privilege to work with
children. Since 1966, Faith UMC Preschool continues to provide the opportunity
for a child to develop as an individual and as a member of a group in a
Christian environment. Two of the primary aims of the program are to build
self-esteem and to create a nurturing atmosphere where the children can learn
to socialize with their peers and grow at their own pace emotionally and
physically.
Faith Preschool is state licensed, non-denominational, and non-profit. |
Faith's Preschool program curriculum includes:
• | Readiness activities such as cutting, listening,
organizing and following directions |
| • |
Music, art, dramatic play, stories, movies, and learning activities
based on relevant units such as self, family, holidays, (including Fall,
Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, etc), animals, community helpers, circus,
etc. |

or national origin. An application form must be completed and mailed to the
Registrar with the non-refundable application fee. Notification of acceptance

proof of immunization before a child can attend school. Health forms will be

school starts.
Conferences
A conference is scheduled with
the parents of children in the three & four year old classes, once during the

requested to personally escort their child to and from the classroom.
The church bus is used by the Preschool for field trips.
School Calendar
We are open September through May, following closely the
Montgomery
County Public School calendar. If Montgomery County closes school due to
rain, freezing rain, ice or snow, the Preschool also closes. If the county has
a two hour delay, the Preschool is closed.
Emergency Procedures
Fire Drills:
The school will conduct
a “fire drill” each month that school is in session. This is a Fire Code
requirements as well as a licensing requirement. We want each student to
understand and be aware of the importance of this drill and not be afraid
when the fire alarm is sounded. By practicing, they will know what to do
and how to do it.
Lock Down Drills: The school will conduct
one “Lockdown Drill” each semester of the school year. This type of drill
will secure the school building and safely shelter all students, staff and
visitors inside the building. The purpose of this drill is to keep the
students safe from any danger outside or inside the building. During a
“lockdown drill” all of the perimeter doors to the building and classroom
doors will be locked and will remain locked until the danger or issue
outside or inside the building is removed. To enable everyone to remain
safe, no one will be allowed to enter the building or leave the building
until the Director authorizes such a release.
Shelter-In-Place
Drills: The “Shelter-in-Place”
drill will be conducted one time a semester each school year. The purpose
of this drill is to be prepared to move to safe location within the building
in case of severe weather or tornados.
Please remember that
these safety practice drills are done to help maintain our school as safe
place to learn and work.
Parent Meetings
A special orientation for parents and students will
be held in August. This will provide an opportunity to meet the teachers and
become familiar with the classrooms. Back-To School Night for parents
will be scheduled prior to the first day of school. This is an evening for
teachers and parents to talk about the curriculum, schedules, answer
questions, etc.
