Bob Holder, Organist
Bob Holder accepted his first position as organist
at a Baptist church while in high school. He studied organ with Louis A.
Potter of Washington, DC. At the age of 19, Bob won an organ playing
competition sponsored by the DC Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.
During the Nixon Administration, he played the organ for a church service at
the White House and had the opportunity to meet both Presidents Nixon and
Johnson who were in attendance. Several years later, Bob was invited
to play in a program featuring prominent area organists, held in the Concert
Hall of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. He has appeared
in recitals in several churches in the Washington area, and has held the
position of organist at two other area United Methodist Churches before
becoming organist of Faith United Methodist Church.
